SOMEONE!!!!

HI...

This weekend was terribly horrible...!!!! Many things happened and I don't if it's just because the destiny.

I used to drive my grandma's car while she was in Colombia. I needed it to go to work because that's the only way to get there.... My grandma always told me to care of the car and be careful when I drive it. Well..... Normally, I go to work on saturdays at 4.pm. I pulled the car over and my working day started.... When I finished my labor, I go to the car and I found that my car was crashed!!! SOMEONE hit the car on the side ...

Now, I need to pay someone to repair it and tell the story to my grandma....

Lately, things like that are happening to me and they are getting me crazy....

See u in the class----

Michelangelo....

Hi....

I wanted to post this on Friday but for some reasons that I don't know I couldnt. I just wanted to talk about my presentation. Before doing my speech about Michelangelo I was a little bit nervous because it's not easy for me to talk in front of an audience. I was so confident when I began but there was a moment that i got confused or blocked and I feel insecure.... Maybe I was too anxious on doing something very well.... I felt bad because I didn't have the answer for: how does he die?...... Now, for those who read my blog here's it: Michaelangelo died when he was 89 due to a high fever.

Well I felt bad because in someway I felt my speaking wasn't good as I thought it was..... I really need to talk more because those occacions show me that I need to need to express to people in a clear and precise manner

See u....

What means SALSA to me? (Part 3).

Hey everyone,

Tonight I want to share some information about a part of my life that I'm really missing right now!!!!....

As I Said before, I raised in a city that is very influenced by Dancing and nowadays by Salsa.

When I was 11, I started to participate in a art clubs in my school such as popular dance and music. I became very interested on them. I remember that the first dance style that I learned was Tango. It was very difficult to me because it was someting that no many people knew how to dance so only my dance teacher could help me to improve my steps. Milonga is another argentinian music that I worked on it and it's pretty similiar to Tango but it has some different kinds of steps.
After years of dancing in my school, I begun to be part of a professional dance group which only danced afro-antillean rythms like chachacha, mambo, son, danzon, pachanga and of course salsa. This groups was very special in Colombia because it innovated with a new style of dancing. Women used to dance with point shoes as they were dancing ballet. Many people thought that was really weird but somehow really amazing. These pictures were taken in january 2004 and they were two of the pictures that we had in our brochure.

In july 2004, we were invited for the Colombia's embassy in Spain to participate in a cultural week in Spain's Capital, Madrid. Before traveling, we practice our rutines thousands times because we knew that we needed to be amazing. When I traveled to the old continent, I was still studying in my last year in High school. It was my first time that I leave Colombia and what's more the embassy was paying everything for us. We had a great hotel, Food, trips around the city and many things, just because we were the guests. It was only one week and a half but it was a great experience. At that time, Even though there were already digital cameras, I was still using a clasic one. so, I have some pictures in Warner Bros Park, Trips in a bus around the city, Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and others....

After this trip, We were invited to participate in many events around Colombia so I knew a bounch of cities in my country.... In 2005, I came to the USA to dance in the Colombia's indepence day event which took place in Flushing Park, NY. This time, we expended much more time than in Spain. We were here for a complete month. We realized also that those Colombians who lived here and were attending to our shows, love and adore our country mucho more than anybody else. They felt themselves as if the were in Colombia by oberving us. They appreciate maybe more than us because they are far away their relatives and things they used to do....
We went to some towns in New Jersey, Some towns in Long Island, and also to Florida state. We danced in Tampa, Orlando Y Miami. I was only 17, but I felt that was an amazing and unique experience....

Well, I think it is everything so far, I have stoped my dancing for a while and because that, I think it is going to be hard for me to recoverd my physical state. Now, I want you to watch two videos of us when we were in orlando and won the second place in the salsa world championship in 2007.

What means SALSA to me? (Part 2).

Let's continue!!!

Santiago de Cali, simply referred as Cali, is the city where I grew up located in western Colombia. This city is also the third largest city in the country and one of the fastest growing economies and infraestructure because its geographical location. but why am i talking about my city? it's just because since long time ago Cali is known as " The Salsa Capital" in latinamerica and I want you to know about this.

This City, -Cali-, is located near the sea and long time ago, the locals used this region's entrance for getting bussiness and all kind of new technology. Also, any kind of rythms came from there. Musicians, instruments and new sounds were a innovation for the entire people. Since then, folks began to listen musical styles like chacha and mambo and suddenly every single person started dancing and Cali became as a musical and dancing City. Year after year, Cali was entirely involved in this genre and musicians and dancers made their own style called: "Salsa CaleƱa".

Nowadays, Salsa moves million people in this city. Wherever you go in Cali, you're going to find something related with it. From south to North. East to West. Malls and parks. Houses and clubs.

There are more than a hundred dance schools which besides teach salsa to tourists, have been participating on all over the world and have gotten the recognition as great dancers. Little by little the world has been realizing that there is a new style of dancing and a city that is more than a Colombian City.

I think this is enough for today and I hope you like this about Cali and got interested on it.
There is more about salsa!!! And there is a part that I haven't revealed yet!!!

What means SALSA to me? (Part 1).

This post are going to be divided in several parts....

First of all, I want to start to tell you a short history about Salsa.

Salsa is musical genre that is made of other Rythms like Chacha, Boogaloo, Pachanga, Son, Danzon, Mambo, Jazz and other afro-antillean music styles. It's completly developed by latinamericans who were located in NYC in 1970. Since then, this new music has gone beyond borders on all over the world.

Several folks say that Salsa was only made in Cuba. According to what I've read throug the years, this genre isn't only from that country. Nevertheless I think we must give credit to them because they created rythms that are still used in Salsa band's songs. As I said before, the term "Salsa" was created in New York but it was only to say that there was a mix of several kinds of music.

If you look up on the Internet this term, Surely you're going to find many definitions about it. There are going to be diferent opinions about who and where was created it. Personally, I think Salsa is like a big tree that has a lot of roots and branches because it came from a barrage of styles and now every country has adapted it in its own way....

Fever...

These last two days, have been really horrible to me. On Tuesday, when I woke up to go to college,I felt like my head was growing up because I had a insupportable headache. After class, I decided to go home for resting. My aunt gave me some medicine and prepared some food for me to vanish the ache. During the night, I tried to fall asleep many times. I tried to count goals, close my eyes and listen some relax music but I wasted my time because it didn't worked. I'm not sure what the time was when finally I was in the dreaming world.

When it was 6:00 am, the alarm was ringing and I felt that I only slept for 5 minutes. Also, I felt that I couldn't even move a foot and all my body was in fire.... I had a very high fever. My aunt gave me again new pills for the fever and we decided that if I wouldn't feel better in a short time, we'd need to visit a doctor. Before noon, my head was relieved and the fever was dissapearing. That was the first time I get sick in the USA. I hope it will never happen again. At least very soon...
